In the fall of 1967, UNRWA established 26 tented schools in the east Jordan Valley emergency camps in an effort to provide uninterrupted education, circumstances permitting. The attendance of children in the tented camps was interrupted by the movement of refugees and displaced persons on several occasions within that area as a result of winter storms and military activity. The photograph depicts a girls' class exercising at a tented school in Ghor Nimrin Camp.
