Hippika, i.e. Books about Horses - a handbook for horse-breeding, written by Krzysztof Nicolaus Dorohostajski (1562-1615), Grand Marshall of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The first edition, published in 1603, contains 45 copper engravings by well known graphic artist Thomas Makowski (1575-1630). The book was very popular, and published an additional 5 times.
