Casimirus Siemienowicz
Artis magnae artileriae pars prima
Amsterodami: apud J.Janssonium, 1650. [14], 284,4 p., [22] illustr. l.
The Great Art of Artillery - a work by Casimir Siemienowicz (ca.1600 - post 1651), a graduate of Vilnius University, was the crowning glory of Lithuania's scientific and engineering achievements at that time. It describes, with sketches, multi-level rockets for the first time. In writing about military armaments, the author did not propagate war, but on the contrary - emphasized that it is the greatest human tragedy. The book was translated into French, German, English, Dutch, Danish, and Polish.
