The author is one of the great historians of Yemen, truly considered to be the historian of the [Rasšl£] State (626-858 H/1229-1454AD). He was a contemporary of king [al-A–raf ’IsmŠ‘£l al-Rasšl£]. He wrote a book on the history of Yemen, and another one titled: (al-‘Iqd al-FŠ¢ir al-€asan) or (…irŠz ’A‘lŠm al-Zaman f£ …abaqŠt ’A‘yŠn al-Yaman). This latter is classified according to the succession of the dynasties who ruled Yemen. Then each class is subdivided under the names of the rulers of each dynasty in an alphabetical order. The author wrote an introduction about the biography of the Prophet Muammad. At the end of his book he wrote two chapters: the first dealing with the Arabic agnomens, while the second deals with the names of women. He followed the same method of [al-Ganad£] who died in 732 H/1332AD (see [Ayman Fu’Šd]: [Ma•Š‹ir TŠr£¢ al-Yaman] pp. 161-165). This copy is written in [Mu‘tŠd] script and the tittles are written in red ink and represents just the second half of the book. The first 167 folios are written in modern script, while the rest of the copy is an autograph manuscript.
