This book is the result of the observations of [al-€ak£m ab£ al-€asan al-œirwŠn£] the astronomer known by the name [al-FahhŠd]. [al-Z£] is the name given to astronomical tables indicating the geographical position in the seven regions of earth, mathematically calculated by longitudinal and latitudinal lines. The first of these tables was the one known as the [Z£ al-BatŠn£] who died in 317H/929AD. The last is the one calculated by ( ’UlŽ Bik) the grandson of (Taymšr Lank) who died in 853 /1449AD. This copy is written in good [Nas¢] script by the copyist [Šbir ibn Muammad ibn DŠwšd QibrŠn] who finished it on Tuesday the 7th of [Muarram] from the year 1001H. The frames are in red. Both the chapters’ headers and the titles are in red too. The text occupies the first 26 pages followed by the tables which continue till the end of the book. The codex had been affected by humidity in the upper and lower parts particularly the pages 55 till 65.
