The poet [‘Abd al-‘Az£z ibn SarŠyŠ ibn ‘Al£ ibn ab£ al-QŠsim al-Sunbus£ al-…Š’£] was one of the leading poets of his time. He was born in 677H/1278AD in [al-€illah] situated between [al-Kšfah] and [BaŽdŠd]. He was a merchant yet he approached the Kings of the Artuqide dynasty and praised them in his poems, so they generously rewarded him. He traveled to Cairo in 726H/1325AD where he praised the [Mamlšk SultŠn: al-NŠ•ir Muammad ibn Qalawšn], then he went back to [BaŽdŠd] where he died in 750H/1349AD . The displayed copy is written in a beautiful [Nas¢] script, and was finished in the afternoon of Monday the 1st of [Rab£‘ al-Awwal] 1189H. according to the order of the [Faq£h œaraf al-D£n ibn ‘Al£ al-Sahm£]. The copyist was [Amad ibn Mummad ibn Amad ibn €asan al-Mu‘allam£ al-œŠfi‘£]. The frame lines and titles are drawn in red ink. There is a phrase indicating that this copy was owned by [€asan ibn ‘Al£ ibn Gunayd al-Himyar£ al-œŠfi‘£].
