In addition to UNESCO?s activities aimed at contributing to the implementation of the Action Plan, the Organization is planning to organize a series of "Thematic Meetings" that should identify and present concrete actions in the areas of education, sciences, culture and communication that its governmental and non-governmental constituencies implement, both on the policy and the application levels, to grasp the opportunities for development offered by ICT.
In a three tier approach, these events are planned to be organized firstly on ministerial level with a strong policy focus, secondly on a political/expert level focusing on core themes such as ICT-enhanced learning and freedom of expression, and, thirdly, on a professional level, focusing on themes such as multilingualism, cultural diversity and reaching the marginalized.
