This is an online Kishwahili to English and English to Kiswahili dictionary. It is primarily meant for decoding purposes. Unlike in standard (stem-based) dictionaries, Swahili words can be looked up as they are spoken or written. No knowledge of grammatical rules is thus presupposed. The dictionary is being compiled within the framework of simultaneous feedback. At present, only the most frequent words in a 15-million-word electronic Swahili corpus have been treated. This work in progress is being created with the dictionary compilation software TshwaneLex and is online since 10 May 2004.
